Mourning cover franked with 5c Small Queen, postmarked with ESQUIMAULT JY 15 95 c.d.s., addressed to Oakfields, UK, endorsed PLEASE FORWARD and sent on to Sherffield, VICTORIA BC and HAWKHURST JY 31 c.d.s. backstamps, back flap bears imprint of the H.M.S. Royal Arthur, which served as the flagship of the Pacific Station during the 1880s, includes contents written by midshipman Arthur Pringle on black-bordered HMS Royal Arthur letterhead, describing various stops made by the ship, and the leisure time had by those on board, interesting and historic.
