Cover franked with 1d KEVII, tied by Freetown c.d.s. (2 Mar), to London, handstamped SALVED FROM / SS JEBBA (Hogarth & Gwynn Type 2), backstamped London (20 Mar), usual faults expected of such shipwreck mail, scarce. The S.S. Jebba, of the African Steam Ship Company, sailed from Freetown on March 4, destined for Plymouth, but ran ashore in dense fog at Bolt Tail, Devon, on 18 March; the vessel was lost, but the mail was salvaged.
