Newfoundland 1931 Quidi Vidi First Flight Cover Corner Brook to St. John’s
Cover franked with strip of six 4c Prince of Wales, tied by Corner Brook JUL 13 31 split-ring, to St John's, with double-circle c.d.s. arrival backstamp, "First Air Mail Corner Brook - St John's" straight-line handstamp on front, a desirable cover.
The 13 July flight from Corner Brook to St Joh's was interrupted by a forced landing at Norris Arm. A week later the flight resumed from St John's to Botwood, and back to Corner Brook, returning to St John's on 21 July, where it was backstamped.

Peru 1629 Viceroy Luis Jeronimo de Cabrera SFL Letter Lima to Huancavelica
Folded letter from Lima to Guancanca (Huancavelica), endorsed “Virrey” (Viceroy) at lower left, contents boldly signed by Louis Jéronimo de Cabrera, 4th Count of Chinchón (1589-1647), who served as Viceroy from January, 1629 to December, 1639, the Count writing regarding the Royal Treasury and requesting “to know what belongs to His Majesty [King Phillip IV] in the district…it not being presently clear,” carried by Spanish horseman or Indian runner, there being no official postal service in Peru at the time, English translation of contents included, a remarkably fresh and rare early letter of exceptional quality.

Stampless folded cover, registered and prepaid from Lima to Huancavelica, with manuscript “Sale Septre 26/803” at foot, struck with red strtaight-line “FRANCA” and two-line registration “CERTIFICACION / A LIMA” handstamp (Tizon figs. 16, 19), reverse with manuscript rate notations “Porte 6-1/2 + Drchos 8 = 14-1/2” (reales), a rare colonial registered cover, select quality.
