"Eros" which was torpedoed by a German U-Boat off the coast of Ireland on 7 June, handstamped SALVED FROM THE SEA on front and back, British post office seal on reverse, stamp floated off and usual faults as expected for mail that has survived such circumstances, scarce Second World War disaster mail.

Rice-Jones of the Calgary Highlanders at the Leanesden Military Hospital, crossed-out and manuscript NETD beside, handstamped with violet ADDRESSEE RETURNED TO CANADA and two -line SALVED FROM / AIR CRASH in blue, faults as expected for crash mail, a desirable military cover.

Great Britain 1931 Experimental Flight “CITY OF CAIRO” CRASH Cover Netherlands Indies

Cover franked with 4d and 1/- KGV, tied by London machine cancel (Apr 3), Imperial Airways Experimental Flight to Australia, carried on the DH66 Hercules "City of Cairo", crashed on the leg from Karachi and Koeping in the Netherlands Indies, with mail being forwarded onwards to Darwin by Kingsford-Smith in the "Southern Cross", Darwin c.d.s. backstamp (Ap 31), scarce and fine.
